INDESUP! at the European SportsTech Ecosystem

Submitted by Cristina Nache… on 11 March 2020

INDESCAT and our INDESUP! program is one of the outstanding initiatives to support entrepreneurship in the sports sector at the European Sports Tech Report. The full report contains sports data on Startups, Investors & Investments, Accelerator & Incubator programs and Events, Awards & Other Initiatives.

The report provides information on the SportsTech major markets in Europe, being UK, France and Germany the major European hubs, whereas Spain occupies the 12 top position, being Catalonia one of the most relevant territories due to its high concentration of companies linked to the SportsTech ecosystem.

INDESUP! is a program launched in 2017 to support the creation and consolidation of sports startups, driven by INDESCAT. INDESUP! offers start-ups and entrepreneurs a mentoring programme and a training programme in new technologies applied into sports and an investment forum specialized in sports industry. INDESUP! also provides access to contacts within SMEs, large companies, universities and other entities working on the Sports industry as well as large visibility in mass media, sport sector events and social networks.

What were our highlights in 2019? Year 2019 was an amazing year! Six new start-ups were mentored and six more were selected for the third edition of Sports Investment Forum. Two of those will close a round of financing in 2020. The Sports Innovation Day was an event where we joined more than 200 start-ups, companies, sportive clubs, public administrations and other sports entities, facilitating more than 100 meetings among them, and where there were talks about fan engagement, sportstech, digitalization, innovation strategies in the sports industry or future trends; we also organized the first fair of sports start-ups.

What are our plans for 2020? In 2020 we plan to follow up INDESUP! programme offering a broader path to our mentorized startups, doubling the number of assessment hours. We’ll also increase the number of entrepreneurs who will participate in our training activities. And we intend to amplify the visibility and contacts of the sportive ecosystem, enlarging the scope of the Sports Innovation Day, carrying out actions to bring innovation developed by start-ups to SMEs and facilitate corporate entrepreneurship and other cooperation models.
