it@cork response to COVID-19

Submitted by Juliette Crowley on 02 June 2020

it@cork has been working closely with its members, the board and stakeholderfs in the south west region to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Remote first model: Like many organisations, it@cork deployed a 'digital first' model and moved all staff off site to work remotely full time.  All training courses, events and forums are delivered virtually.
  • Leadership development programme:  it@cork in association with the IMI have developed an industry led IT leadership programme targeted at early/future leaders in order to equip companies with the type of IT leaders needed in order to continue the relentless upward trajectory the industry was experiencing pre-Covid-19 Link
  • Virtaul training courses: it@cork skillnet has worked closely with training providers in Ireland to replace all on-site training courses with virtual courses: https://itcorkskillnet.ie/training-programmes/
  • Information session & webinars: it@cork has created a series of webinars & information sessions on COVID-19 related topics for it@cork members.  These information sessions are recorded and available on our youtube channel: Link
  • it@cork CTO/CIO Forum: it@cork CTO/CIO forum held its second forum meeting of 2020 on May 27th virtually via zoom. This forum is made up of senior IT executives from companies and organisations in the South West region of Ireland. This is a peer to peer leadership forum which facilitates discussion, collaboration and insights on challenges and opportunities for companies and the broader tech sector in the region. Implementing robust return to work protocols and contact tracing processes are now an absolute necessity for all businesses and technology will play a crucial role in achieving this.  This is the priority of most businesses / it@cork members at this point from an operations/technology point of view.
  • COVID-19 Portal: Created a portal for regular updates and supports from state agencies on tailored covid-19 supports: Link
  • Member survey: Regular survey of member companies to ascertain current challanges/requirments of member companies

I am happy to discuss and share our experience/views with other Cluster Managers in the ECCP.
