Launch of "Water Smart Territories" Thematic Area S3P - Collaborating regions EoI

Submitted by Marisa Fernandez on 30 April 2019

Last february 2019 a new thematic area was launched on WATER SMART TERRITORIES (WST) within the Smart Specialization Platform for industrial modernisation (S3P).  This new initiative aims to strenghten the innovation capacity of European regions and facilitate new investments for sustainable water management by clusters and other stakeholders in regional ecosystems.

The key water topics and trends that WST will tackle are the following:

·Boosting resilient infrastructure

·Digitalization

·Circular economy

·Enable multistakeholder governance

Three European regions are coordinating this initiative: Aragon (Spain); Centre Val de Loire (France); and Friesland (The Netherlands). Our group aims to map and identify investment projects towards sustainable water territories. This process will be supported by S3P and RECONFIRM assessors. ZINNAE Water Cluster is part of the core group leading this initiative. One of the WST ambitions is to join efforts between all water innovation stakeholders at regional level.

We have opened a process to gather interest to complete our group with collaborating regions.  Please find in this link the form with detailed information about the thematic area and the required information to be part of WST as collaborating region. Please notice that we strongly recommend the involvement of both Regional authorities and water related clusters.
