Seanergy 2017, hosted in Le Havre on 22nd and 23rd March, attracted 3,000 participants from 15 European countries. This international event has gathered the main companies, institutions and cluster associations related to marine energy and it is expected to strengthen the positioning of the New Aquitaine-Basque Country Euroregion in this sector.

The Basque Energy Cluster has had a prominent presence at Seanergy 2017 where it presented Basque credentials in the field of wave energy at a shared stand located in the exhibition area. The Wave Energy Basque Country brand, which includes the major Basque companies and bodies in the wave power sector, has been represented at a joint stand shared with 8 companies: Bimep, Ditrel, EVE’s (Basque Energy Board) plant at Mutriku, IH Cantabria, Navacel, Oceantec, Tecnalia and Zunibal.

Within the framework of the BlueSare project, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Agence Développement Innovation, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays Basque and the Basque Energy Cluster have organised a networking event with Basque and New Aquitaine companies, which was held during the celebration of the trade show. These territories are associated within the framework of Euroregional Programmes to promote the agents on Marine Renewable Energy sources and favour technological, scientific and commercial collaborations among them. A presentation event was held at the Wave Energy Basque Country stand to introduce these collaboration initiatives.

BlueSare, a project led by the Basque Energy Cluster that seeks to promote the Euroregional MRE stakeholders and favour their international development, was presented at this side event. To this end, we are currently defining the Euroregional MRE offer though a catalogue that includes the major players in the sector, a shared value chain and testing and port infrastructures.
