The Basque Energy Cluster attended World Maritime Week in Bilbao on 12-14 February 2019. The WMW exhibition area gathered around a hundred agents, companies and organisations involved in the present and future of the so-called blue economy, and there were also conferences in four sectors. The marine energy congress, Marine Energy Week, co-sponsored by Iberdrola and the Basque Energy Cluster, focused on the development of offshore energy, through the alliance formed between the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), Tecnalia and Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC).

The Basque Energy Cluster, collaborating in the Bilbao Marine Energy Week, had a joint stand in the WMW exhibition area with several member companies, projects and their respective brands. In order to show the world the capabilities of Basque companies, the Basque Energy Cluster, in cooperation with the Basque Maritime Forum (FMV), exhibited the brands Offshore Wind Basque Country and Wave Energy Basque Country, together with six leading companies and organisations in the renewable marine energy sector: TECNALIA, IDOM-OCEANTEC, GLUAL and DITREL, with the Cluster; and ABANCA MAR and PINE, with the FMV.  Other projects and initiatives were also showcased during the event, like Hazitek “Harsh” project, which offers technologies for the design, advanced manufacturing and validation of components for offshore energy installations. The energy exhibition area also included other important companies and organisations in the marine energy sector.  Regarding institutional representation, it is worth highlighting that the event opening was attended by the Basque Government with the presence of Regional Minister Arantza Tapia and Deputy Minister Javier Zarraonandia who visited the stand and gained first-hand knowledge of the initiatives in both wind and marine energy strategic areas.  The Marine Energy Week conference "Offshore Energy: a growing market" took place on 13 February, as part of World Maritime Week, co-sponsored by Iberdrola and the Basque Energy Cluster. It was divided into two large sessions – one focused on reviewing the current status and prospects of the main forms of offshore energy, and another that talked about the development of the main technological projects that are driving forces in this area.
