The Basque companies Vicinay Marine, Tubacex, Alerion, Gainza Forge, Hadimek and Navacel, together with the UPV/EHU and Tecnalia have displayed their latest developments in products, technology and services for the Oil&Gas sector at the leading European event with a joint stand organised by the Basque Energy Cluster, in collaboration with the Basque Internationalisation Agency (BTI) and Fluidex.

The SPE Offshore Europe fair took place from 3 to 6 September in Aberdeen (Scotland), a world-leading production and innovation centre in the sector. With 950 exhibiting companies and 38,000 attendees, this is one of the most important events in the sector in Europe.

The Euskadi-Basque Country premises, under the brand name ‘Oil&Gas Basque Industry’, brought together several of the main Basque companies in this value chain. Vicinay MarineTubacexAlerionGainza ForgeHadimek and Navacel, together with the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and Tecnalia took part as exhibitors at the stand. They shared their state-of-the-art products, technology and services for the Oil&Gas sector at this event, which included both trade fairs and technical keynote speeches. The conference included 12 master classes and 86 technical papers. Pablo Benguria, on behalf of Tecnalia, presented a technical article on the HarshLablaboratory, which researches materials and components in real conditions at sea; the paper was published in the official event brochure.

In addition, the Basque Energy Cluster held several meetings with key entities such as BPShellOceaneering and PD&MS during the event, where the differential characteristics of the Basque Oil&Gas sector in terms of quality, innovation and concentration of reference companies were discussed.

The Department for Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government selected this event as a priority within its internationalisation strategy. This support has enabled the Basque Energy Cluster to launch the Oil&Gas Basque Country brand at a leading international event outside of its borders.

The oil and natural gas exploration and production sector meets every year at the SPE Offshore Europe Conference & Exhibition in Aberdeen, the leading event in the Oil&Gas sector for “Engineering & Procurement” professionals. It alternates on even-numbered years with the ONS in Stavanger, and both events combined are the most important events for the sector at European level.
