Open University of Technology #CiekawiNauki Third Meeting 27 April 2019/

 

The third meeting of the #CiekawiNauki (Interest in Science) series, as part of the Open University of Technology project, was held in Gdańsk on May 25, 2019. The organizers of the meeting are Gdańsk University of Technology and the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.

Dr Marcin Westphal (National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk) talked about the technology of production of German submarines type XXI in 1943-1945 and about how post-war underwater units drew from war technologies. Latest in marine tourism on small and large depths and innovations in the marine mining industry made a richly illustrated presentation by prof. Lech Rowiński (Gdańsk University of Technology). Inacio Golebski (DNV GL) demonstrated the modern solutions of DNV GL for the maritime industry showed the operation of the drone for inspection of ships. This is the solution that Poles used as the first in the world. The operation of the DNV GL simulator was also presented for the training of ship surveyors. a vision of the future of the maritime industry for the next dozen or so years and for solutions that increase the efficiency and safety of ships, said Piotr Kabaciński (Wartsila), who informed about the operation of innovative engines powered by LNG.
