The PIMAP Partnership Kick-Off Meeting was recently hosted at the Brussels Office of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. The 4 cluster partners of the project – Alpha-Route des Lasers et des Hyperfréquences, Triple Steelix, PRODUTECH and Joensuu Science Park -  joined together to discuss the planned project activities and their ambitions for the next two years. The consortium, led by Alpha Route des Lasers et des Hyperfréquences encompasses 2 clusters working in the field of photonics/microwaves (the project coordinator and Joensuu Science Park), and 2 clusters offering concrete market applications (Triple Steelix and PRODUTECH).

The PIMAP Partnership will help drive the industrial modernisation process in Europe and will provide a springboard for cluster SMEs to internationalise and support regional actions through the leverage of photonic technologies in key emerging industries. The inter-clustering actions will help match photonics / Technology solutions with market applications to ensure cluster ecosystems linkages are strengthened.

The project partners took advantage of this meeting to explore and build synergies on the possible industrial applications of photonics. The consortium expressed its interest in the American and Canadian markets and their strategic dimension to enhance the competitiveness of their regional ecosystem. The PIMAP Partnership renewed its commitment to closely involve their SMEs while defining its internationalisation strategy.

The project partners agreed on the next steps of the project, including the organisation of several workshops in their respective regions involving their SMEs to have a better understanding of their needs and expectations before to lead future business missions to the United-States and Canada.
