This long-term relationship will open doors and new opportunities towards Nordic countries

On Monday, March 19, 2018, a delegation of companies from Barcelona flew to Billund, Denmark to participate in the third and last meeting organized by the Catalan clusters of nutrition and health (AINS), packaging (Packaging Cluster) and by the Danish of food (FoodNetwork).

The two-day mission had an agenda that fostered relations between companies in the two countries. On this trip, the three clusters were accompanied by the companies PackintubeHamer Packaging and Pedragosa.

During the first morning we visisted the FoodExpo Fair in Herning, the largest food fair in the Nordic countries, which showed the food, machinery and packaging trends for the following years. FoodNetwork, as a group and network of companies in the food and packaging sector, had a collective booth with some of its members.

That same afternoon, we visited Lego House, a space to be inspired by the innovative and creative process of the company, which has managed to adapt to the increasingly demanding and digital environment of its customers, young and old. The guided tour through the 6 zones (the creativity tree, the gallery of masterpieces, the red, blue, green and yellow area and the historical collection) allowed us to take ideas and internalize different contributions for our entities.

On the second day, three visits were made. First we went to Agustson, supplier of fish products such as smoked fish, cod, caviar and prawns, and where we seen the process of cleaning, smoking and packaging of smoked fish. Highlight the great commitment to food safety and hygiene in the production plant, which also demonstrate the different certificates that the company has, which exports 90% of its production.

After this visit, a stop was made at one of the largest supermarket chains in Denmark, Bilka, to make a benchmark and market analysis and discover new products and different packaging.

Finally, we went to Erhno Flexible, the main manufacturer and provider of flexible packaging for the food sector. The different flexographic printers, where Ehrno has two machines from Comexi from Girona, member of the Packaging Cluster and the board of directors, allows them to work large and small runs for food products, where they excel in special films for cheeses and butters.

This mission closes the 2FoodPack project, which has allowed transnational and cross-cutting collaborations between the members of the clusters involved to facilitate internationalization and the development of transversal competences.
