A new event of the European Photonics Roadshow Series, promoted by secpho along with 7 other European clusters, served to organize a mini-mission with 4 cluster members: Ricardo Díaz (ainia), Yago Olaizola and Gema García (ceit), Ismael Almazán (Fyla) and Sara Otero (Phase photonics) joined the secpho team during this event.

This time the destination of the mini-mission was Amsterdam. The event was entitled “Photonics for agrofood”, dealing with new applications of photonics in the field of agriculture and food processing. The 4 members of the cluster were able to present their skills and technologies in this international meeting and managed to capture the interest of the more than 80 people attending the event.

After a first successful mission to the Laser Zentrum in Hannover in January, it was the second time that secpho has organized such a mission and the participating partners see this mini-mission format as an effective tool to internationalize their capabilities and technologies, as well as to strengthen their international network in a very efficient way.

The Dutch journey began with a networking dinner between members of the secpho team, FylaPhase Photonics and Ceit. The dinner served to strengthen ties between the partners although many of them have been knowing each other and collaborating for years. It also served to introduce Sabine Runge to the partners, a new member of the team, who will be in charge of strengthening the international connection of secpho.

The event itself lasted a day and a half and in addition to attending a large number of presentations on technologies and lines of research, there was a lot of time for networking with other participants.

In addition, there was another positive outcome for secpho: The event served to hold meetings with European clusters in order to focus on new collaborations. Among them, we used the opportunity to hold a meeting of the FoodPackLab project and to focus on the next steps with new partners.

Upcoming missions will be in Newcastle and Paris. On the 16th and 17th of May the European Photonics Roadshows Series will stop in Barcelona and it will be dedicated to the application of new technologies to the food industry and agriculture. We look forward to seeing you in our next missions!
