RUINS- SUSTAINABLE REUSE, PRESERVATION AND MODERN MANAGEMENT OF HISTORICAL RUINS

Submitted by Sergio Calò on 18 June 2018

The project “RUINS - SUSTAINABLE REUSE, PRESERVATION AND MODERN MANAGEMENT OF HISTORICAL RUINS” has started in June 2017 funded by the programme Interreg Europe.

Venetian Heritage Cluster is Project Partner of the project, together with other nine partenrs covering six countries:

The project aims to create a new integrated model considering management aspects, reuse and preservation of medieval ruins. The goal is to develop and provide management plans shared at a European level, going beyond usual traditional approaches. These guidelines will allow the management of ruined historic sites and the opportunity to take advantage of the economic potential this heritage offers for regional development. The cooperation of 6 countries with their own traditions and experiences represents for us an example of public-private partnership. This will lead to the development of models suitable for management, the use and protection of medieval ruins throughout Europe, adding value to the Network on an international level. In Italy, for instance, the Venetian Cluster will realise some practical examples collaborating with the enterprises of the RIR, Regional Innovative Network, for the research and the development of new solutions: indeed, after the kick-off meeting in Lublin, Poland, the project partners were hosted in Italy for a study visit in March 2018, in order to know some case studies and analyse the different methods applied to collect data and opinions to enhance the attractiveness and accessibility.
