After our successful meeting at the Laser World of Photonics Fair in Munich in June, secpho has recently become a member of OSA, The Optical Society based in America. We are the first European cluster entering the leading forum for light science and technology. OSA’s mission is to promote the generation, dissemination, and application of knowledge in optics and photonics. OSA serves the global community through content and events that are authoritative, accessible, and archived, and through its education, advocacy and outreach programs.

OSA’s core values of innovation, integrity, inclusivity and impact (“i4”) underpin all of its activities, and a commitment to excellence and diversity are the hallmarks of its initiatives. As technological innovation cluster with the leitmotiv ‘collaborate to innovate‘ secpho shares these values and therefore considered this membership as perfect way to be closer to the international scientific community and to connect with international partners increasing business and project opportunities for our members.

OSA Industry Development Associates (OIDA), a division of The Optical Society (OSA), serves and represents organizations engaged in the business of optics and photonics – from start-ups to Fortune 500s. In support of its member companies, OIDA promotes and protects the business of optics and photonics in driving innovation, creating jobs, and accelerating growth around the world. OIDA provides exclusive roadmap reports and market data for the industry, serves as the voice of the industry to government and academia, acts as a liaison with associations worldwide and provides a network for the exchange of ideas and information within the optics and photonics community.

“The Optical Society shares advances in the science of light globally through its first-rate publications, programs and outreach activities. Connecting professionals from around the world, communicating with diverse audiences, and incorporating early career scientists into our community are at the heart of the Society’s mission.” (Ursula Gibson, 2019 OSA President)

The membership will grant us a lot of benefits that will indirectly have a positive impact for our members. We will be connected with the global OSA scientific community and will increase the outreach and impact of our activities, such as secpho’s webinars or our technoligcal magazine light! in English, to extend secpho’s ecosystem on international level.
