The Basque Energy Agency and the Basque Energy Cluster organised the ‘Wave Energy Basque Country’ stand through the Gold Sponsor and the joint participation of Basque companies in the Ocean Energy Europe fair, during 30 and 31 October in Edinburgh. The Basque pavilion was made up of the companies and entities BIMEP, DITREL, IDOM-OCEANTEC, TECNALIA and ZUNIBAL.

The OCEAN ENERGY EUROPE (OEE 2018) event was held this year in Edinburgh from 30 to 31 October. The Basque Energy Cluster, along with the EVE, organised a joint participation of companies through a Gold Sponsor, which has brought a special visibility to the stand grouped under the brand ‘Wave Energy Basque Country’. It was made up of Basque companies/entities in the marine energy sector (BIMEP, EVE, DITREL, IDOM-OCEANTEC, TECNALIA and ZUNIBAL).

The main companies and institutions related to marine energies met at this international event (OEE) and we had the opportunity to present the Basque credentials in the field of wave energy through a joint stand and presentations in the conference area.

In addition, the Wave Energy Basque Country brand, which brings together the most important Basque companies and entities in the wave energy sector, had a 24 m² stand in the main area of the exhibition hall (stand P4).

Olatz Ajuria, Project Director at EVE, participated in the conference session on marine energy with a talk that opened the first session on the 31st. She showcased the capacity of Basque companies and institutions that are included under the umbrella brand Wave Energy Basque Country. She also made a special mention to the main characteristics of BiMEP, the Marine Energy Platform of Mutriku, Oceantec-Idom, Zunibal, Tecnalia and Ditrel, demonstrating the active public-private collaboration that exists in the Basque Country regarding marine energies. Patxi Etxaniz, Director of Oceantec, had the opportunity to present the WEC's capacities via a presentation during the conference session of the first day of the event.

In short, through the participation under the brand Wave Energy Basque Country, the most important Basque companies and bodies in the wave power sector have shown their capacities. These companies and institutions form part of a growing sector in the Basque Country that is committed to its technological and industrial development.
