Digital challenges for the Content, Media and Creative Industries are at the heart of reflections and debates of 'NEM Summit 2017'. The tenth International Symposium of the European Technology Platform NEM (New European Media) dedicated to content (audio visual, creative industries, media, web) is organized by 'NEM' under the aegis of the European Commission and in close collaboration with the Madrid ICT Audio Visual Cluster, the project VITAL MEDIA, and the support of the “Minstero de Education, Cultura y Deporte” and the “Plataforma de Tecnologías Multimedia y Contenidos Digitales” eNEM

Driving the future of digital experience

The NEM Summit is an international conference and exhibition, open to co-located events and organised every year since 2008 by the NEM Initiative (New European Media – European Technology Platform – www.nem-initiative.org) for all those interested in broad area of Media and Content.

Over the years, the NEM Summit has grown to become an annual not-to-be-missed event, providing attendees with a key opportunity to meet and network with prominent stakeholders, access up-to-date information, discover latest technology and market trends, identify research and business opportunities, and find partners for upcoming EU-funded calls for projects.

Building on successful previous Summits, the 2017 edition will address many of today’s hot topics on Smart Content by Smart Creators. These will include research and business challenges, societal and user needs including accessibility, implementation requirements for smart content and media convergence, and the regulatory and standardization environment.

More than 300 participants from around the world

The 'NEM Summit' is attended by more than 300 participants from Industry and the Electronic Media segment Research network and, more generally, of Information and Communication Technologies. Start-ups, SMEs, academic institutions, standardization bodies and government authorities are present alongside major industrial players, content providers, creative industries, broadcasters, network equipment manufacturers, network operators and service providers.

A vibrant 2017 edition with international speakers and European Commission

The program of this year’s NEM Summit (http://nem-initiative.org/nem-summit/) will consist in keynote presentations and invited talks, an exhibition focused on presentation of research results in the NEM area achieved by various projects and organizations, Scientific and Technical Summit Tracks, as well as Show Cases on Media and ICT for Creative Industries including an Art competition corner.

November 29th - VISION day will be dedicated to key presentations shaping the challenges and the future of the Content Industry dealing with Connected, Converging and Interactive Media & Creative Industries. Beyond the future of Media presented the European Commission, the program is including presentations on the social media content and a new and cooperative approach to combatting “fake news”.

November 29th & 30th - COMMUNITY VISION day will be an opportunity to meet the NEM members around several parallel sessions dedicated to:

  • New formats,
  • Cultural heritage and Digital Tourism,
  • The Future of Digital Media,
  • Towards the Future of Social Media,
  • Building the Ecosystem Through Experimentation
  • Personalisation and Accessibility
  • Cluster Excellence for Digital Creative Industries

Within the NEM Art & Design Competition, a NEM price will be awarded in the closing ceremony for those Innovative Technologists and Artists from Europe having submitted their own creations, utilizing new technologies such as Immersive (Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality), Artificial Intelligence & Machine.
