On the occasion of the coming of Quebec Prime Minister Philippe Couillard and of the Secretary of State to the Ministry of Economy and Finance Delphine Gény-Stephann to Toulouse, an agreement has been signed on March, 6th 2018, by the competitiveness cluster Aerospace Valley (aeronautics, space, embedded systems) and the Quebec aerospace group Aéro Montréal. This agreement aims at facilitating the development of projects linked to defense and unmanned aerial vehicles’ markets.
According to Suzanne M. Benoît, Chief Executive Officer of Aéro Montréal, “Quebec and Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie regions are both international range aerospace centers. This agreement with Aerospace Valley will enable us to share best practices to give the possibility for our enterprises to benefit from the expertise our two clusters possess”.
Cooperation between Aerospace Valley and Aéro Montréal was initiated in 2007. Montréal is the third capital-city of aerospace, gathering 200 enterprises of the sector and about 40 000 high-skilled workers.
The agreement contains specific axis on Earth Observation for Blue Growth applications in order to identify collaboration opportunities between members of both clusters as well as with other Blue Growth clusters in Canada and France. Indeed, this particular point falls into the framework of the SpaceWave project Aerospace Valley is coordinating since January 2018, which aims at enabling expansion into international markets for Earth Observation SMEs in Blue Growth.
As part of Aerospace Valley initiatives towards Canada, representatives of the Canadian Embassy to France were present in the Aerospace Valley premises in Talence (Bordeaux), on Tuesday, March 13th 2018 to give a presentation about business establishment in Canada. This presentation has given the opportunity to talk about SpaceWave with Canadian representatives, as Canada is one of the eight targeted third countries of the project.
