EPIX CxC Group Exchange Piombino Dese, Italy 20-21-22 July 2022

The 1° EPIX ClusterXchange visits was organized by Coordinator Rete di Imprese Luce in Piombino Dese, Italy on 20-21-22 July 2022.

On the 3-day exchange, EPIX Visitors from CICAT Cluster de Iluminación Angela Lalatta and from Cluster Lumière Tom Suhas and Nicolas Mannoni had the opportunity to learn more about the LIV cluster and its ecosystem and to meet SMEs from the lighting sector and regional stakeholders including Municipalities interested in „Smart City” projects. The CxC mission included visits, business meetings, presentation of product lines, organisation of technical laboratories and participation in the Venetian Smart Lighting Award contest and gala event.

To increase the cluster collaboration, and give additional visibility to EPIX clusters’ innovative companies operating in project value chains, partner Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto introduced in the context of its regional Venetian Smart Lighting Award a special international category for the best smart city project proposed by the EPIX companies: „Special Prize EPIX: Be Smart For Your City”.

This international category was open to all companies - members of the EPIX clusters, operating in the lighting, furniture, construction and mobility with a focus on smart city solutions. The EPIX category was won by the Basque SME B.LUX S.A. a member of the Habic cluster.

EPIX CxC Group Exchange Barcelona, Spain 15-16-17 November 2022

On November 15-17 2022, ELCA European Lighting Cluster Alliance organized a fact-finding ClusterXchange 3-day mission to the City of Barcelona, including a deep dive into the Smart City Expo World Congress 2022 to be inspired, share, and learn from other cities and institutions.

The main goal of this exchange was to learn more about the Smart City strategy, new urban model and tactical urban interventions managed by the City of Barcelona (Urban Ecology Department) as well as enhance the networking and direct dialogues between the city representatives and the EPIX clusters and SMEs providing solutions in the framework of the ecological, sustainable, inclusive city concepts and urban models. Particular focus was given on exploring municipal plans, ongoing and future projects, approaches as well as technologies, products and solutions in the fields of energy, mobility & logistics and urban revitalization including the „Superblock” projects, public-private partnerships and citizen engagement.

EPIX Visitors learnt more about the Smart Cities challenges and solutions they are looking for in the field of energy efficiency, circularity, inclusion, security, urban mobility and digitalisation thanks to the opportunity to attend the Smart City Expo World Congress 2022 events.

EPIX CxC Group Exchange Iceland 14-15-16 March 2023

On March 14-16 2023, partner SIC Sustainable Infrastructure Cluster organized a ClusterXchange mission for its SMEs in Iceland, hosted by Mannvit Engineering, an Icelandic engineering leader firm in the fields of engineering and technical services.

The mission included on-site visits to local companies – Mannvit networks business partners such as ICELANDAIR, KATOR, OLIUDREIFING, and THAKEFNASALA, with related B2B meetings, discussion about the development, networking opportunities in the area of sustainable construction products, solutions and technologies offered by Polish visitors. Commercial workshops with representatives of Iceland companies and product showcasing sessions were organized aiming at introducing innovative and sustainable products to the Icelandic construction market and supporting the collaboration between Polish and Icelandic actors.

The CxC Host Druseidt GmbH, a company expert in high-current engineering, will exploit the Visiting SMEs’ business collaborations and new R&D initiatives in the framework of Industry 4.0.
