Packaging Cluster, a leading entity in the packaging sector, held its Ordinary General Assembly today in Sabadell, which culminated in the appointment of Martina Font as the new president. Martina Font replaces Artur Costa.

Martina Font assumes the presidency of Packaging Cluster with two important objectives: to transform the packaging industry in the field of digitization and sustainability.

Another of the bigt challenges will be the development of the new Strategic Plan 2022-2025 that will mark the sector's roadmap for the coming years. Font maintains that “we will work on five key points for the Cluster, such as providing more value and competitiveness to the members, turning sustainability into an opportunity, generating new value in the different channels, improving companies in the sector and being opinion leaders in the sector”.

Martina Font is part of a family saga dedicated to innovation in the cardboard world with her mother company Font Packaging Group, the 6 business units including the B2C e-commerce subsidiary Kartox, and the Olivé Batllori Cavas. Together with her family, they lead a business group with more than 200 workers and 50 years of history.

The businesswoman has positioned the packaging sector internationally thanks to her disruptive perspective over the years, transforming the industry with collaborative innovation projects.

The new president is part of the group of experts chosen by the Generalitat de Catalunya to determine how the future of the territory will be, the Catalunya 2022 Working Group. This group of 30 professionals has been created with the purpose of analyzing the scenarios that are being opened Catalonia after the pandemic, coordinated by Victòria Alsina, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Transparency, and Genís Roca, expert in business transformation, business development and digital culture.

2021 projects

During the assembly, in which the more than 100 members of the association have participated, a balance of the last year has been made, future projects have been explained and the situation of the sector has been analyzed.

At the meeting, the main novelties of this 2021 have been detailed, among which stand out different actions to facilitate market intelligence to the sector, such as the study of trends, and a packaging observatory that will be presented at the end of the year. In addition, the more than 60 activities that will be carried out during the year stand out, which are complemented with technical and management training to train the sector.

Specific projects have also been exhibited, such as the launch of Packfinder (www.thepackfinder.com), the marketplace where you can find personalized packaging and also a connection program with start-ups.

At the Assembly, the presentation of a Next Generation Office has been announced, to accompany the entrepreneurs of the sector and complete the innovative projects of the companies.
