The Packaging Cluster ends its participation in Pick&Pack successfully

What has happened in the Pick&Pack 2023? From the Packaging Cluster we tell you!

Pick&Pack, the benchmark fair for technology and innovation in the packaging and logistics sectors, was held from April 25 to 27, 2023 at IFEMA, Madrid. During these three days, at Pick&Pack you could find different applications such as digitization, artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, new processing systems or the most sustainable materials for the packaging industry. At the same time, attendees were able to discover instruments that will transform companies into more efficient, intelligent and productive factories and warehouses.

Congreso Nacional de Packaging 4.0

Packaging Cluster, a non-profit entity that boosts and improves the competitiveness of its associated companies and the sector, participated as a co-organizer of the National Packaging 4.0 Congress. That is why Àlex Brossa, Cluster Manager at Packaging Cluster participated as a speaker at the National Packaging 4.0 Congress held within the framework of the Pick&Pack fair. Where he shared with all the attendees, what is the current situation of the sector in Spain in macroeconomic terms, as well as the main trends that will prevail in the sector in the coming years. Brossa reviewed the main topics that would be addressed in said congress, among which are: Sustainability and Circular Economy, Legislation, Technologies and Complex Products, and Product Personalization. These themes are directly related to the trends that the container and packaging sector must face in the coming years. In addition, he highlighted the great success of said congress, which offered 9 presentations, with more than 35 speakers, made up of more than 30 leading companies in the sector.

To define the trends that will be prevailing in the sector, three main areas were differentiated: Digitization, Sustainability, and Design. Within the field of Digitization, different trends such as E-commerce, Smart Packaging, Blockchain or Virtualism, among others, were listed and reviewed. Brossa highlighted that "digitization in packaging is a growing trend that offers numerous benefits for manufacturers, retailers and consumers, such as cost reduction, improved efficiency, and user experience". Delving into Sustainability, the new regulatory framework that has come into force was recalled, the 3Rs (reuse, reduction and recycling) were reviewed, highlighting its high importance. And to end this great area of sustainability, there was a review of some of the new materials that are kinder to the environment. Finally, it was explained how to improve the design of a container. Where the high importance that ecodesign is gaining was highlighted, the great value of betting on Inclusive Packaging, as well as the development of packaging that helps to avoid and mitigate food waste.

Stand Colaborativo del Packaging Cluster

The Packaging Cluster, in addition to being the co-organizer of the National Packaging 4.0 Congress, also had a collaborative stand where they shared the space with 6 companies associated with the Packaging Cluster. A space where collaboration and innovation were the main pillars of this Stand. The companies that participated in the joint stand were: Industrias Plásticas Triana (designers and manufacturers of plastic containers for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors), J2 Servid (packaging supplier for the export of goods), Inka Palet (manufacturers of pallets, containers and transport packaging accessories), Lecta (manufacturers and distributors of paper for labels and flexible packaging, and commercial printing), Buergofol (developers and manufacturers of flexible packaging film for various sectors), and ACK Engineering (engineering company that can address a process project from an integral point of view).
