The CEEC and Catalan Sports Cluster promote a project to improve energy efficiency in Catalan sports facilities
The Catalan Energy Efficiency Cluster (CEEC), the Catalan Sports Industry Cluster (INDESCAT) and Leitat Technology Center organized the session 'How do we improve energy efficiency in sports facilities?' on Wednesday, 5 of July at Fabrik Gracia ( Barcelona). The event was part of Green Energy Strategies in Sport Facilities, a project funded by Agency for Business Competitiviness (Acció) to promote the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Catalan sports facilities.
During the session the manager of the Sports&Technology Cluster, René Wiljens, and the Leitat researchers, Marco Mori and Carlos Larraz, presented the 'International Benchmark of Good Practices', a preview of the study in which a total of twenty European sports facilities that stand out for their good practices in terms of sustainability and efficiency have been analyzed. The Philips Stadium in Eindhoven, the Caldea aquatic complex in Andorra or the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London are some of the examples mentioned by the experts. The aim of the report, which will be presented definitively in September, is to identify those projects that can be replicated in Catalonia.
The event also served to present the learning mission that will take place in Eindhoven from July 17 to 19 by INDESCAT's head of internationalization, Montserrat Centellas. The study concluded that the Netherlands is the optimal market and an international reference for carrying out a learning mission thanks to the push in recent years of energy efficiency measures and the use of renewables in its sports facilities.
The day concluded with a networking session among the attendees.
