VitIA 5.0 (Application of DATA technologies to the wine production chain to predict and manage its quality from the vineyard to the supermarket) is a strategic project designed to improve the competitiveness of the wine sector, applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in the processes. of wine production, from viticulture to oenology, and recommending action guidelines based on key variables, thus accelerating the digital transformation process of the sector.

This initiative receives funding from the 2023 call for the support program for Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras (AEI) of Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo and it is cordinated by Galicia Food Cluster (Clusaga).

The project addresses the need for the wine sector to improve its productivity and sustainability through the application of AI techniques that allow action on the different phases of the viticulture and oenology processes based on data and sensory analysis. Thus, in VitIA 5.0 the latest technologies available in data capture and sensorization (IoT), data processing through predictive analytical and recommendation models (AI), including layers of cybersecurity and traceability with Blockchain technology will be applied.

The project consortium is made up of two leading wineries in the Ribeiro and Rías Baixas Denominations of Origin (Viña Costeira, S.C.G. and Cooperativa Vitivinícola Arousana, S.C.G.), six technology companies that are experts in the fields of sensors, data analysis and intelligence, artificial intelligence, sensory analysis, cybersecurity and traceability (Nova Industria Galega, S.L., Data Monitoring, S.L., Microfy Systems, S.L., Tastelab, S.L., Seresco, S.A. and Inprosec Auto, S.L.) and a specific winemaking technology center (Fundació Parc Tecnològic del Vi).
