EN-ESECA - mission Tanzania

Description

From the 3rd to the 7th of June in Tanzania, ESECA will organize its last mission focused on smart grids and renewables energies to be installed off-grid.
-----
Tanzania is the sub-Saharan African country with the most opportunities for the development of mini and off grid systems, especially in the northern regions. Although off-grid has a great potential in Tanzania, smart grids market is currently very limited as electrification rates are low and the technology is still incipient, which represent a great opportunity for its deployment. There is also a growing activity regarding battery storage systems (BESS) in Tanzania, linked to the installation of PV systems in rural areas. In this sense, the imports of electrical equipment have increased significantly in recent years, but they are still insufficient.
-----
Considering these aspects and the growing activity of the energy sector in Tanzania, ESECA will organize this mission in collaboration with TAREA, the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association, which is one of the most active sectorial associations from Africa. In fact, the mission will be organized in the framework of TAREA’s Renewable Energy Days, which will be organized the 4th and 5th of June in Dar Es Salaam.
-----
The preliminary agenda of the mission will be the following:
* 2/06 – Flight to Tanzania
* 3/06 – ESECA Workshop. Presentation of the energy market in Tanzania. Focus on smart grids and renewables. Presence of key stakeholders from the sector. Presentation of EU companies and their capabilities. Collaboration opportunities and B2B meetings with Tanzanian companies.
* 4-5/06 – Renewable Energy Days organized by TAREA. This event includes a conference with several sessions and topics about energy, an exhibition space to promote innovative technologies and a networking space for developing contacts and organise meetings. The event is focus on renewable energy, smart grids, microgrids, small and large energy projects and energy efficiency.
* 6/06 – Visits to interesting entities and companies for the EU delegation. Flight back to Europe.
-----
ESECA project has funding to support SMEs with their travel costs and registrations for the event.

The European Sustainable Energy Cluster partnership for Africa (ESECA) is a partnership of five European clusters (ACE, MEDEE, LE2C, MetaIndustry4 and ECPE) from Spain, France, Italy and Germany. Together they bring together around 550 organisations and 290 SMEs. The main objective of ESECA is to foster business collaboration between European companies in the renewable energy and power generation, distribution and transmission sectors, in order to develop a joint internationalisation plan with common objectives towards the markets of sub-Saharan Africa (Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda).
