The European Digital Innovation Hub in Transilvania, also known as TEDIHT, with the project code SMIS 161789, has successfully obtained 2.5 million EUR co-funding through a national call organized by the Romanian Authority for Digitalization, which complements the Digital Europe grant, that already started on the 1st of October 2022.

TEDIHT, the European center for digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the North-Western region of Romania, will utilize this co-funding to continue its mission started one year ago, which is to support the digital transformation of regional SMEs and enhance the quality of services provided to communities by local public authorities.

The TEDIHT consortium, consisting of six partners, is led by Transilvania IT Cluster as the orchestrator, alongside Hygia Consult, Babeș-Bolyai University, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the National Institute for Research and Development of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies, and Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca.

TEDIHT's overarching goal is to provide a comprehensive set of digital transformation and innovation services for SMEs and public sector organizations engaged in non-economic activities in the North-Western region of Romania and, through the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) network, at the European level. The specialization and primary services of TEDIHT are based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and access to high-performance computing (HPC) to support green and digital transformation in areas such as digital health and automation, ultimately leading to economic development, competitiveness, and societal progress in our region and beyond.

Bianca Muntean, Manager of Transilvania IT and Coordinator of TEDIHT, emphasizes: "By securing these funds, alongside a team of high-quality partners and a focused approach on cutting-edge technologies, TEDIHT will contribute to the economic development and strengthen Romania's position in the European digital landscape. This funding not only represents crucial financial support but also recognition of our potential to be a leading actor in the digital transformation of SMEs and local public authorities. We are determined to use these resources strategically and efficiently, with the goal of stimulating innovation, supporting entrepreneurs, and contributing to the development of a sustainable digital economy. With the support of our trusted partners, we will make TEDIHT a center of excellence in digital transformation, bringing significant benefits to both the local community and the entire European innovation ecosystem."

The funds are provided by the Romanian Authority for Digitalization, serving as the Intermediate Body for the Smart Growth, Digitalization, and Financial Instruments Program 2021-2027, through Action 2.4 Digitalization of SMEs carried out by European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) in Romania.
This funding serves as confirmation of TEDIHT's status as a project of strategic national importance, solidifying its crucial role in advancing digital innovation and economic transformation in the North-Western region of Romania and at the European level. TEDIHT will continue to offer high-quality support and services, making significant contributions to the evolution of the digital sector and the sustainable development of its SME community.

Since 2016, through constant efforts, Transilvania IT Cluster and TEDIHT have become active partners in the development of Digital Innovation Hubs in Romania, engaging in valuable collaborations with the European Commission and the Romanian Authority for Digitalization. Furthermore, this funding represents just one step in the sustained progress within this initiative.
