Topic: Regulation related to building products: selected case studies
Hosted by Jožef Stefan Institute
Speaker: JoseProf. dr. Vilma Ducman and dr. Majda Pavlin (Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute), dr. Jakob König and dr. Uroš Hribar (Jožef Stefan Institute).
The webinar will cover strict European regulation of the construction sector – Construction Products Regulation (CPR, 2011/305/EC), which sets out technical requirements and legal procedures for placing construction products on the EU market. This strict regulation aims to ensure the safety, stability, and sustainability of buildings. A product bearing the CE marking fulfills the essential requirements that are important for its intended use. The procedures for meeting the requirements of the CPR are described in detail in the harmonized European standards for most construction products. Newly developed products are often not covered by harmonized standards and other routes must be taken for their assessment (national or European approval procedures). In any case, environmental parameters expressed in the leaching of potentially harmful substances must also be assessed following either the Waste Framework Directive (WFD, 2008/98/EC) or national legislation.
The webinar is organized for SMEs working in the development of materials for the Construction sector. The webinar will present several use cases where CPR was addressed and cases where secondary raw materials are used in the production of construction materials.
