This Discussion Paper aims to generate discussion around the nature of the challenges facing companies during the COVID-19 crisis and its aftermath, the actions and decisions companies can take to cope with these challenges, and the value that cluster organisations can provide to their members in responding to challenges related to supply chains. While cluster organisations are already organising relevant initiatives, they will require the support of policy makers to help them fulfil their role in this regard.

Raw materials supply chains viewer

A secure and sustainable supply of raw materials is essential for a resilient economy. The European Commission has recently announced the Action Plan on Critical Raw Materials, a proposal to reduce Europe's dependency on third countries, diversifying supply from both primary and secondary sources and improving resource efficiency and circularity. At the same time, the Action Plan promotes responsible sourcing worldwide.
