THE NEXT SOCIETY’s 2nd #TechDays: EU & MENA innovators meet again!

Submitted by Alina Danielescu Chirlomez on 14 January 2020

Following the success of the 1st edition organised in Casablanca, THE NEXT SOCIETY organises a second meeting in Tunis between EU and MENA innovators including clusters, researchers, SMEs, industry experts and policy makers.

The objective of the #TechDays is to encourage collaboration between these actors of the two shores of the Mediterranean through sectoral bilateral meetings in order for participants to share their strategies and portfolio of business and to bring about roadmaps for future collaborations. On January 29, a workshop will also allow to tackle the difficulties met by each participant and to discuss the barriers to internationalisation and the financing conditions. The next day, on January 30, during the Tunisian Technoparks Forum, clusters, SMEs, start-ups and researchers will be invited to find new partners to build up collaborative R&I projects and form consortia for Tunisian funding programmes and H2020 calls. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Pitch your R&I project ideas to an audience of potential partners (under selection)
  • Exchange with potential partners to join the project consortium
  • Exchange with Technoparks and H2020 Tunisian Contact Points for assistance (specific booths will be allocated)

I want to pitch my R&I project idea and find new partners, what should I do?

Clusters, SMEs, start-ups and researchers from Tunisia, the MENA Region and Europe are invited to answer this call for presentations. The deadline has been extended until January 20, 2020.

Targeted R&I topics

The networking event will focus on the following collaboration topics:

  • ICT
  • Environment and circular economy
  • Energy
  • Nanotechnologies
  • Textile materials
  • Industry 4.0
  • Agrofood industries
  • Biotechnology

You can look at the H2020 calls in your sector here.

Also on the agenda, the launch of the Tech Booster in Tunisia! This acceleration programme targets “researchers-entrepreneurs”: researchers, engineers or innovators having developed a project thanks to their research studies or their scientific skills and willing to commercialise it or turn it into a business.

Thanks to a team of experts, mentors, industry experts and investors, these researchers-entrepreneurs can validate a Business model, an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) ready to access market, work on a pitch and benefit from B2Bs with industry leaders and innovation experts in their sector.

The Tech Booster acceleration programme is implemented by THE NEXT SOCIETY’s partners in Tunisia, APII and CONECT, together with U-Accelerator. 15 to 20 participants selected through a call for applications will have the opportunity to participate in a collaborative workshop on January 29 during the #TechDays.
They will then benefit from a 15-day training course divided in 3 modules: design thinking, innovation management and launch strategy. They will finally take part in a I2I meeting with targeted industrialists and investors.
