Description
The concept of meta-clustering is a progressive strategy that links different clusters from various sectors, industries, and regions in the global economy. Meta-clusters use the collective power and diverse abilities of different clusters to set a new bar for innovation, collaboration across fields, and global competitiveness. This versatile approach not only stimulates the creation of advanced solutions but also nurtures a dynamic ecosystem where ideas thrive, and economies can prosper. By connecting the dots between separate industries and markets, meta-clusters support a more cohesive and robust economic structure, able to cope with global challenges and uncertainties. This approach is helpful in tackling complex problems, promoting sustainable development, and allowing the exchange of knowledge and technology among sectors, thereby speeding up the rate of innovation and creating new possibilities for growth and cooperation.
The European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, organised the EU Clusters Talk “Innovation through integration: How to create and engage a meta-cluster” on 24 April, 8:30 – 9:45 CET, to discuss the potential of meta-clustering, talk about the benefits and challenges of cross-sectoral and cross-border cooperation, and hear about meta-clustering initiatives in Europe.
Speakers included:
- Marek Przeor, Team Leader Cluster Policy, DG GROW, European Commission
- Eric Koch, Head of Sector for I3, EISMEA, European Commission

They offer up-to-date insights into the latest industrial policies and clusters’ involvement, projects, and best practices, the latest ECCP news, and funding opportunities. The EU Clusters Talks are a space to exchange knowledge and to discuss cluster-relevant topics, which will change with every meeting.
