Summary of the European Alliance Against Coronavirus Daily Webinar on 4 June 2020

In the meeting on 4 th June, the European Alliance Against Coronavirus started the analysis of disruptions in the construction ecosystem.

During the pandemic, 92% of companies in the construction sector were shut down following the governmental decision of containment. This decision produced consequences in economic and social fields. Today, 80% of companies has restarted.

In order to overcome this crisis and to use it as an opportunity, it is vital to support the digitisation and industrialisation of the construction sector. They could be important pillars for the implementation of the Green Deal to achieve zero CO2 emissions from Europe's building stock.

Currently, the companies have adapted their production processes to complete health and safety measures. While production is ongoing, the ecosystem is experiencing a major disruption because of missing orders. The sales forces couldn´t move out of their region, and public procurement has been stopped. Partly, this situation generates problems of cash flow.

For a long-term vision, the group sees potential for new R&D projects for market demands and companies to make their ways towards digitisation.
